I am Nelson Pompigne-Mognard, a dedicated and forward-thinking student driven by an insatiable curiosity for computer science and a desire to create impactful solutions through technology. With experiences spanning software development, robotics, leadership, and sports, I pride myself on being a proactive learner, problem-solver, and team player. Passionate about bridging innovation and real-world challenges, I aspire to connect with like-minded individuals and contribute meaningfully to shaping the future.

Leadership Roles

At my current school, I proudly serve as the President of Lower Sixth MUN, 2nd XV Rugby no. 8 player, Lower Sixth Mathematics Society President, and participant in elite competitions like Gold Duke of Edinburgh and UK Bebras Computational Thinking Challenge.

Through my first years of High School I served as Varsity Basketball Team Captain, Student Council Representative, Service Ambassador, Kangaroo Maths Competition Participant, Competitive Programming Team, dofE (Bronze & Silver), National MUN Confrences (Multiple Time Best Delegate award recipient), School band.

Passion for Technology: My journey in computer science began with childhood explorations of dismantling electronics with my grandfather to uncover their inner workings. This early fascination blossomed into hands-on programming and engineering experiences, where I’ve tackled projects ranging from robotics to software development.

Global Ambassador for Learning: As the UK Ambassador for Teen Talks, a podcast uniting students across 20+ schools in over 10 countries, I’ve helped young learners make informed career choices through expert insights and engaging discussions.

Prestigious Engineering Programs: My participation in the Clare College Explore Engineering and Technology Program at Cambridge not only honed my technical skills but also earned me the Best Academic Achievement Award (Ranked 1/32). Working on cutting-edge challenges, like designing solutions for Mars colonization, further fueled my passion for using technology to address humanity’s biggest challenges.

Futures Forge Skills for Success Course: Selected among the top 20% of global applicants, I excelled in this MIT- and Oxford-backed program focused on leadership, critical thinking, and innovation, emerging as a top performer.

Sports and Athletics

Rugby Achievements: A proud member of the National U16 Championship-Winning GD Direito Rugby Team, I play as a Number 8, where my aggressive and strategic gameplay has earned recognition across the field. My selection for the NextGenXV Global Schools Challenge in South Africa represented an opportunity to compete with world-class rugby talent on an international stage.

Equestrian Competitions: Competing as a National-Level Independent Showjumper in Portugal has taught me precision, discipline, and grace under pressure. Guided by a former Portuguese National Champion, I’ve consistently excelled in jumping classes up to 1.20m while caring for and training my own horse.

Community Contributions and Extracurricular Leadership

Awards and Legacy: As the inaugural recipient of the Sports Award at my school, my name is proudly displayed at the school for generations to come—a legacy representing my dedication to athletic excellence that I have put into representing the school for two years as the 1st Team Basketball Captain.

MUN Excellence: Through multiple National MUN Conferences, I’ve received Best Delegate Awards while mentoring peers as a dedicated leader in debate and diplomacy.

Equestrian Club: As a founding member and volunteer, I led the establishment of my school’s equestrian community, dedicating hours to teaching younger students riding fundamentals.
